Lansky Tactical Blademedic Sharpener

If you want to maintain your knives’ sharpness, then the Lansky blade sharpener might be for you.

Of course there’s always the basic stone for keeping the edge on, but that takes some practice and a certain amount of skill to consistently refresh your blades, plus it’s sort of a hassle…

What Do You Get?

The compact convenience factor of the Lansky gets high marks; a tool that is approx 4” long x 1.25” wide, weighs 4 ounces and is not very thick. It has 4 unique sharpening areas all built in.

1.  The tungsten carbide blade sharpener is super aggressive and is used for quickly sharpening the most dull blades. Just 4 or 6 passes through the V and most blades are instantly resurrected.

2.  Ceramic Sharpening Rods are used to polish out the edge after the carbide edge sharpener or a touch up sharpening if the blade is not too dull to start with.

3.  Serrated Knife Sharpener for sharpening the serrated edge of the blade. I always wondered how I would ever sharpen that little squiggly area of the blade called the serrated edge and this answers my concerns almost effortlessly. Luckily though, in my experience, the serrated edge doesn’t need to be sharpened very often compared to a straight blade. But like I say, it’s nice having the capability to do so now.

4.  Then finally there’s the Diamond Tapered Rod. For fast sharpening of both your straight and serrated blades.

Cost

I purchased my Lansky for $11.00. They retail for anywhere from $8.50 to about $14.00. Whatever you pay in this range is a good deal for the value received with this little gem.

The Reviews Are Good

Which is one of reasons I purchased this particular tool. I have been researching for a while to find a good, inexpensive sharpener to keep my blades effective, so I didn’t just grab the first thing I saw. I give it five stars for the limited time I have been using it. We’ll see how long it lasts and my evaluation could change but for now it’s definitely five stars.

Built Like a Tank!

This thing is heavy and though it’s advertised as a “pocket sharpener,” It’s such a heavy little tool, I wouldn’t want to carry it around in my pocket all day. But this should be seen as a compliment for how well it’s built!

There is a hole for a key chain or attaching something in one end of the tool, so it could be used for a key chain OR hanging up somewhere to keep it from getting lost.

Can Be Taken Apart

Two allen screws hold the whole thing together which mean it can be taken apart for servicing, if you could or even wanted to find replacement parts to refresh the critical sharpening components once they were worn down, but It seems like they will last quite a while and this should not really be a concern.

If you do decide to purchase one of these sharpeners, lemme know what your experience is; good, bad or ugly, I’d like to hear back from you.
